about us

Inclusive Dance Academy is a studio where anyone and everyone is welcome, included, and can enjoy the many physical, mental and emotional health benefits dance brings to your life. A safe space that focuses on support, positivity, joy, self-love and confidence with no judgement, no makeup, no expensive costumes or term fees! Dance isn’t and shouldn’t be only for those who can afford it!

Our Mission

Inclusive Dance Academy is committed to providing people of all ages, abilities, and disabilities with the opportunity to experience dance, movement to music and performance in a positive, non-judgmental and supportive environment.

At IDA students will grow in confidence and self-love, while increasing coordination, balance, agility, flexibility, and musicality. Most importantly having lots of FUN, making friends and being a part of our village. Dance has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, improve brain function and cognition, regulate and boost moods. These benefits have the potential to improve the quality of life for all individuals, especially those living with a disability. We believe that these transformative powers should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, experience, or appearance. That is why, at Inclusive Dance Academy, anyone and everyone is a dancer. We pride ourselves on educating and inspiring our students to be authentically themselves and strive to be the best version of that while providing skills they can utilize in all aspects of their lives. We sure are different from the rest. We are strong advocates for body positivity, community over competition with no makeup or expensive costumes required.

Meet the boss

Meet the boss

Hi, I’m so glad to have you here!! I am Teleah, a single mum of a 4 – going on 24 little girl Presley, who absolutely lights my life.

I am a proud Maiawali & Pitta Pitta Aboriginal Woman and have called Gold Coast home for over 20 years. I have been in the dance industry for 28 years, trained in most genres and have been teaching dance for over 17 years.

I understand the many physical, mental, and emotional health benefits dance, music and movement brings to your life.

Growing up living with an extended family member (I count her as my sister, regardless of blood) with special needs, I saw firsthand the positive changes and confidence that dance brought into her world.

I want to provide those opportunities to everyone, especially those living with disabilities. Completing my Human Service & Social work degree at Griffith University provided me with further knowledge and skills in best practice when working with clients with mental health issues and disabilities. Our happiness is our own responsibility, but it helps doing something that you love that is proven to boost your mood and release endorphins. It’s important to be surrounded positive people and who support us to be and love ourselves, just as we are.

Our Story

In 2021 I became the mum of my little queen, Presley. After giving birth I wanted to attend dance classes with her, unfortunately there was nothing available. This amazing academy started as a Mums and Bubs class with a few friends, then it grew, and our kids grew so they needed classes, then their older siblings and now we have a village called Inclusive Dance academy.
It is so important for mums to be able to have a village, not to be isolated after having their babies and get a chance to have some fun, get in some exercise & receive the many health benefits dance offers without needing a babysitter or having to pay for a creche, which means no mum guilt! I have seen these classes help mums through PPD, help them create their village, grow in confidence, self-love and be surrounded by positivity, support and understanding. Building each other up and helping each other through the coolest hood there is… motherhood!

What they say

“My daughter and I started when she was only 4 weeks old. We didn’t miss a week, with most weeks doubling up and attending both Tuesday and Thursday classes!

These classes are not only beneficial for bubba but also for mamas/dads! As soon as you walk in, it’s an instant mood changer and the class only gets better from there!”

Mini & me classes are the highlight of our week- fun dancing, great workout, oldschool music and a comfortable environment to get a bit silly. I was quite nervous to go at first and Teleah was warm and welcoming, remembering our name each time and introducing us to the class. Im always so surprised at how happy the babies are and how much they love the music/ dance. Highly recommend!

“I could not rate this class more highly!! After my first class I couldn’t stop smiling. Teleah’s energy is next level infectious that it makes the 1hr class feel like 5 minutes! Such a great way to exercise without feeling like you’re exercising!

I wish I found this class sooner!”
